To be eligible for a WDJCLP loan, an applicant must meet all the following criteria:
- Applicant must be Jewish.
- Applicant and family must have been residents of Michigan for at least one year prior to completing the WDJCLP loan application.
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or have lawful immigration status in the U.S.
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need. WDJCLP loans are meant to bridge the gap between a student’s cost of attending school and their financial resources. WDJCLP looks at the financial information provided on your FAFSA application and your financial aid award.
- Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution that is located in Michigan (if the applicant is attending chiropractic, optometry, podiatry, or rabbinical grad school they may apply, even if their school is not located in Michigan).
- Applicant must be enrolled full-time in a program leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Applicant must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 to apply for subsequent WDJCLP loans.
- Applicant must have two co-signers — the applicant’s parents, other family members or legal guardian (exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis). The co-signers must have the ability to repay the full amount of the loan if the borrower fails to do so.
